EIC Sales

The raw data below is sourced from a return made by the East India Company to Parliament in 1845, entitled ‘Statement of the Number of Pounds Weight of the different Varieties of Tea sold by the East India Company in each Year from 1740 down to the Termination of the Company’s Sales, together with the Average Prices at which such Teas were sold’.

Click the button at the bottom right of the Excel Web App to open in full size. The ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons at the top of the sheet can be used to collapse or uncollapse the data relating to a specific tea variety. Charts based on this data are available on the second, third and fourth tabs at the bottom left of the sheet.
